Sandy's Christmas Poem

Sandy Wayne

'
Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the town,
the Inn keeper's children
were running around.

Laughing and shouting,
Excited as could be
There were new kids in town
Lots of people to see

Their parents were there
on one certain day
Commanded by Caesar
their taxes to pay.

The city was full
and starting to get loud.
Little did they know
with all the shuffle and crowd

A quiet young couple
came into the town
Wherever they asked
No rooms to be found.

The Inn keeper allowed them
to stay in the stable
He said "You can't go much farther
I don't think you're able."

It was obvious to him that a
baby was about to be born.
Sooner than later,
Probably before morn.

And sure enough,
sometime during the night
A star shown on that stable
with a light that was so bright

And inside that stable
born on the hay
was the Saviour of the world
On that first Christmas Day.

Outside on the streets
the crowd hurried by
unaware of the miracle
not hearing the cry.

Today it's the same.
The Miracle is still here.
A different cry goes out
But there's some who won't hear.

The babe in the manger
God's son on the cross
A risen Saviour - our Lord
Who can save us from loss

Don't be in such hurry
Take time just to stay
And look for the miracle
On this Christmas Day.
