Once Upon A Christmas
by

We heard -
A spell-binding aria from heavens above
harmonized by angelic voices so clear,
of a joyous decree their singing brought forth
for all of mankind to hear

We saw -
gathered  round a manger both man and beast
drawn to its fold so slight,
their puffs of breath wafting amid the cold air
to ward off the chill of the night

We witnessed -
exalted royalty, reverent bent upon knee
bestowing gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold -
with their humbled offerings gentle shepherds bowed
to the One that prophets foretold

And behold -
a promise born, a babe in swaddling clothes
serenely sleeping this Holy Nights Eve,
innocent to what His prophecy holds
for now, shrouded in tranquil dreams is He.
