A Little Girl's Christmas Wish

By Darryl Ashton

A little girl sat quietly
Beneath the Christmas tree,
She closed her eyes and said a prayer,
And said, "It's not for me.
I know I shouldn't ask you
Bus as it's Christmas time,
And tonight is Jesus' birthday
So I hoped you wouldn't mind.

I have a little brother, God,
I'm sure you know him well
He wants to stand up on his feet
But on the day he fell,
His little back was broken
And his leg muscles are slack
And all he wants is one more chance
To get the feelings back

We haven't any money God,
And I have none to give
But I would give up everything
Just so he gets to live
He is sitting in a wheelchair,
But God, he is so young
No one can make him better.... God,
You are the only one."

The little girl then wiped her eyes
And stood up on her feet
Then walked to where her brother was,
Lying fast asleep
Her parent heard her little prayer,
And in the kitchen hid,
Their tears flowed freely. and silently,
They both echoed her bid

They prayed together earnestly
And thanked God for his love,
And said their daughter was an angel
Sent from up above.
That night when they were sleeping
An  Angel came to call,
She went around from room to room
And softly blessed them all.

'Tis Christmas morn; the girl awoke
To hear a sweet voice sing,
And on her bed she found a feather
From an Angel's wing.
She went into her brother's room
The feather in her hand,
And then she stopped .... as tears flowed down
She saw her brother stand.
